Price Paid:  $200.00 from JandR

Summary:
Alright, this combo was the worst pile of crap i bought. The player was replaced with the MZ EP11, this was a horrible portable player. It stopped playing discs after 2 months of use! It sounded ok, but a little limp compared to the E33.

I went out and purchased the E33 which still works like a gem and sounds pretty good. The E75 is a beautiful unit which sounds exceptional.

As for the deck, first the phantom powering on started, then the jamming noise started when ejecting MD's...which wouldn't stop unless you fed it another MD then turned it off. Now, it makes that annoying crunching/jamming noise for up to 5 minutes before spitting out the MD. This has turned out to be a nightmare of a unit. What a waste of money, and it seems Sony let a whole pile ship out to stores and unsuspecting customer's. Check this site out for a list of known problems reported by MD owners like myself, avoid this unit!

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
