Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $180.00 from minidisco

Summary:
I have 3 of these that I have used for several years and I have never experienced a UTOC error. (I did experience UTOC errors with Sharp portable units.) Sound quality is good but model was discontinued a few years ago and does not have more recent innovations such as MDLP.

Strengths:
Flexible I/O (coax & digital inputs), integrated timer, can move blocks of tracks simultaneously, includes mono mode

Weaknesses:
Editing seems more cumbersome than on Sony units, no MDLP

Similar Products Used:
Sony JB930, other Sony, JVC & Sharp decks and portable units. Have used minidisc format extensively for several years.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $300.00

Summary:
As you could read in many places on the net, sharp & kenwood equipment have a factory defect call UTOC ERROR that turns your deck into paperweight. It´s a question of chance whether you get it or not, or if you get it rather sooner than later, but it´s quite obvious these equipment are due for a recall. You go to sharp website, they say nothing. On the other hand I have a portable MT-821 and haven´t got that problem (yet). I don´t know, but with so many users complaining out there, and with mine that went burning in the last midsummer´s day pyre, I would stay hands off this piece of eclectic UTOC ERROR md destroyer junk. Those guys at Sharp must have been drunk and joking when they designed it.

Strengths:
opt & coax digital in

Weaknesses:
UTOC ERROR !

Sony Je500

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
