JVC XU 301BK 3 Disc Changer w Mini Disc Recorder Minidisc Player Reviews

JVC XU 301BK 3 Disc Changer w Mini Disc Recorder
MSRP:
$ 550.00
The XU-301BK is CD text-compatible, allowing it to read and display title and track information encoded in many newer CDs. But even with older CDs, the XU-301BK lets you input (via the front panel, or, as we prefer, via the remote control's mini keyboard) a disc's title, artist, and one of 27 preselected musical genres. Other features include JVC's Compu Link remote operation capability, a sleep/timer, a full array of inputs and outputs (including optical-digital as well as analog-line and microphone inputs), a CD pitch control, and a sampling-rate converter to allow recording of digital audio from sources whose original sampling rates are either 32, 44.1, or 48 kHz (the standard CD sampling frequency is 44.1 kHz).

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $198.00 from J and R Music

Summary:
I needed both minidisk for recording and a cd player. The JVC seemed like a good bet. However, there are too many moving parts within the machine for the cd changer. Needless to say it's been malfunctioning for the past year and finally died. A seperate minidisk player would have been a better choice along with a carosel player. I think JVC ill-designed this one.

Strengths:
Multiple cd playback and minidisk capability. Easy to set up.

Weaknesses:
Too many moving parts within the machine results in more causes for error.
