I have a question about this player, cant seem to find the answer. Does this cd player play DTS CD's or not? I apologize for a question not a review, but nowhere else to turn! =)

Warning, the first shipments of these units can not becontrolled by the receiver, integrated amp, etc. remote.

If you buy one, Yamaha is kind enough to pay for the shipping
of your unit to a regional fix-it shop for repair.

Otherwise the unit sounds great, way better than the Kenwood 224 that
I have been using. A bit hard to program the cd text in, but displays
the name of the cd, or the cd artist. 3 stars, due to their handling
of the problem with the remote.

Some people have been making the mistake of saying that the CDM 900 is the same machine as the technics as a audio retailer who stocks the yamaha I feel the need to clarify this issue the cdm900 has digital outputs the technics does not the cdm 900 is expandable by way of adding aditional units the technics can't do this also the cdm900 has different operating controls ie a jog dial to facillitate easy operation and is a higher quality unit with ultimately better sound than the technics , we get what we pay for people

I LIKE THE YAMAHA CDM900 BETTER THAN THE OTHER 200-DISK MACHINES MADE BY SONY, JVC OR KENWOOD. IT HAS BETTER MECHANISM AND DOES NOT DAMAGE CD.(I USED TO USE SONY CD220 AND IT DAMAGED MY CDS.) ALSO, IT TAKES LESS TIME TO SWITCH DISKS. THE YAMAHA HAS CLEANER SOUND COMARING TO MY OLD SONY. I PAID 299 FOR IT AND AT THAT PRICE RANGE, I GIVE IT 5 STARS.

After a lot of research and comparison (Sony, JVC, Pioneer), I choose the Yamaha CDM-900 110 Mega CD changer. The quality is superior to the others I tested and I really like the fact that the CDs are "hidden away" behind the front panel
Highly recommended.

This _DOES_ pass the DTS bitstream. In fact, I have about 6 DTS Cd's loaded in mine right now. :)
Overall a nice machine.

This thing is great. The sound is awsome I can hear things I've never heard before. This is also a steal since it came out on the market at 499.00. It is now 299.00 for the price and for what you get this thing is great. Especially sice Yamaha put major bucks into it for quality and had to come down to sell em. At 102 signal to noise it is far above par.

Strength:

Good SOLID construction. 110+ CDs. Dustproof

Weakness:

Text is a little difficult to enter. Remote is cheap plastic

An excellent CD player. I was renovating my house, dust was on everything, and this thing was completely dust free.
The audio quality is as good as anything I've listened to and having 50% of my CDs stored away inside the CD player ready to be played is great.
You can divide the 110 CDs into 5 groups, the boundaries of which are movable, I have mine set to moods e.g. New Age, Dance, Singles, Heavy Metal and Other.
You can also randomise all 110 CDs or just within a group.
Also it seems to play those badly scratched CDs better than anything I know.

My last Yamaha CD player lasted 7 years of being played 24/7 - I'm hoping this will last just as long

If only I could afford another one of these suckers, I could then fit all my CDs inside.

After reading the horrid reviews of the SONY 250 disc version I am SO relieved that I chose quality over quantity.
