Piece of junk!!!!
After I had this unit for 1 month, I found the Karaoke scoring did not work on the CLD disc. The same CLD disc played scoring very good on a Panasonic karaoke player (model 1018??).I called Pioneer to ask why this was a problem. They told me the CLD disc needs to be the right format????
After 1 year, with only an average usage of 3 hours per week the head broke!!!!!

Bottom Line:
This rather old model is still one of the most durable CD/LD player ever made. The sound is bright and detailed. It doesn't have the crisp treble of their 20 bit players but the end result is satisfying (at least in a karaoke system). The unit features DirectCD for shorter signal path in CD playback. LD playback quality is great as compared with the last Yamaha model. The only problem it has is with tracking. Perhaps continuous use of scratched up LDs have something to do with it.
