Bottom Line:
This small little fart looks quite promising with its cylindrical tube akin to a high-tech piece of gear, but do not be deceived by its looks. This piece of sh*t won't improve any cheapo mass market CD players you can find on the planet, period. Since one of my buddy was kind enough to loan me this piece of junk, expectations were high when I first hooked this junk to my Sony 7ES. Hoping to hear an improvement, I was utterly horrified when the bass got thinner and the highs got brittle and drier. Not only that the mids lost body and the whole soundstage collapsed, it was if the CD I was playing was broken or something. I cannot believe it when people say they DO NOT hear any improvement in sound quality. They make any players sound worst. Amen to those who have heard an improvement.

I can't help my rant but I just figured out I could do some good by saving somebody from calamity in purchasing one of these crap. For $50 bucks you might as well get some nice hot dogs and couple of beers for lunch.

Bottom Line:
i got this free from a friend. when used in place of an cheap CD player's DAC, it does gives a fair bit more clarity, however, when coupled with a decent CD player, it doesn't offer much advantage.

the DAC is too slow, unable to cope with fast dynamical change. also a little bit too bright, making listen uncomfortable.

but for $99, may not be a bad deal.

At $99.00 (plus cost of an interconnect) this was an effective upgrade for lower cost and older CD players to give them a longer lease of life. It was even better with some filtering of the power cord.

Overall, It's definitely worth it for a 99 dollars product and it does provide a clear and good sound.

Bottom Line:
Tried this item purchased from AA for 95$ with pretty old
Marantz 5-disc player. It's completely unable to improve anything. A little better stereo imaging but nothing up 12K Hz. Sounds dull and annoying. Later bought Audio Alchemy transport. What a terrible noise X-Act have produced. Liveless and superslow. I don't recommend to spend even 10$ for this piece of shit 'cause it's unable to improve anything, even 100 year old CD-players.
