Bottom Line:
the denon dcd 425 is a fine and well made budget player . and a long lasting product , too ( i am using it for more than 10 years, i bought it as a used item ..../ production year was in the early 1990`s./ . i partnered this cd player with several amps ( mission , nad +++ ) and several loudspeakers ... and for the price , sound was always satisfying , and clear above the average . strenghts are : it is a dynamic player , with good drive and rythmic abilities . for a budget player , the dcd 425 is in tonal aspects , lets say , nearly "neutral " ....but ......could be a little bit warmer and more refined .

Bottom Line:
I found this in a pawn shop in like new condition. for $50.00 you can't beat it. It is playing through an Adcom gfa 5500 amp and a pair of ADS L 780 speakers, good detail for a budget player. Great bargain at this price. Will keep it as a back up when I get my Rotel or Adcom player!

Bottom Line:
I don't see why you would want to buy something like this except en-mass for a school or something. IT has poor sound and build quality. THey also break down very easily. I suppose the price is the only thing to sway you, but you might as well save up and get something worthwhile or look at technics CD players, they are better.

Bottom Line:
A reasonably good budget player that sounds its best if partnered with warmer sounding electronics and speakers. Thrive under rock and pop music conditions, as it churn out music with excitment and speed.
Now that it's no longer under production, I will rate it a good buy if you can get it for a low price.
