The Cambridge Audio 650C replaced a older Cambridge Audio D500SE in my system. I also have a NAD C540 still in use in a second system. The 650C has deeper and better defined bass, very neutral mids ( perhaps a tad clinical ), and very detailed high end, ( however, I do not find too bright or harsh at all ). The unit is very quite in operation and seems very well built. The remote is well laid out and has many options on it. The ability to select between two filter slopes on the DAC's is a cool feature and although slight, is audible with good playback equipment. I prefer the slow cutoff as it smooths the top end ever so slightly and sounds a bit more laid-back. The dual Wolfson DAC's really extract a ton of detail and I hear new additional details in CD's I have not heard before. A wonderful machine!
