This review is for the CD player 1.2 since I can not find a section for the CD1.2 to review I will see if this helps anyone who will consider a purchase.

Let me explain a little about myself.. I am a huge audiophile for many years.. age 49 and I was into this hobby since I was 10 years old. I had hands on with many product costing way more than this player.. Its really that good out of the box after 30 minutes I realized wow this thing is really good... I really wasn't really expecting to keep this CD player but it really fooled me... its that good.. silky smooth highs very detailed and robust.. bass it not at all tubby and I think its worth every penny compared to what's out there. If you can find an open box deal like I did, its beyond worth it.. I wasn't looking to spend over 1200.00 for it. The transport is very quiet too.

I think the transport might be the same as some Audio-Research players which I've been around.. this CD player is not cheap.. its built solid and strong. I burned a 24bit 192 recording on a blank CD and it played it without any problems at all I'm not sure if it down converted to 96k I will find out soon and update this review about that.. its so good I'm not really worried about it.

What I really like about it is you get all inputs and outputs along with a remote volume and that helps when you have a really good classic pre-amp that doesn't have a remote or you have other equipment like a Tascam DA 3000 recorder that players 192 and lower plus memory cards this might work for you too.. or you can go straight into the amp if your input impedance is not so sensitive. You won't be disappointed if the rest of your equipment is up to par.. It goes good with Parasound, Conrad Johnson, and Bryston. I would love to hear Vincent Audio's amps. FAVE STARS WITHOUT ANY DOUBTS

Thanks Vincent

I would not recommend this unit to anyone in South Africa as it has given endless trouble from acquisition date. Would not read disks and after sending it back to seller for attention it was returned with the same problem manifesting itself after a short while matter of months. There appears to be inadequate technical support in S.A. with supplier not advising at any stage what the problem was.
Importer agreed to exchange for a lesser machine at one stage, then negotiations appeared to collapse with no communication from him.. As I speak, I am using a sony dvd player to play my cds cost me R2500.00 WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE.

Strength:

I would describe this cd player as durable and well built for the money.

the bass is taut and well defined, the image solid and stable, the overall presentation coherent.

It does, however, have some annoying characteristics. First, the mids and highs are a bit overcooked and sterile sounding, and sound as if they are mechanical and harsh. The net effect is a wide image but one that is not convincing in realism. Female vocals sound reedy and thin. Male vocals show some inprovement in beleivability.

For the money, however, and if teamed with a hybrid or all tube am/pre combo, this rig should do well. Beware if you are running this though an all solid state amp.
