I bought my Marantz CD65 II Special Edition CD player 20 years ago and it still works perfectly although it has been retired to my bedroom now. Back in the late 1980s it was felt by some hi-fi enhusiasts that many CD players were too bright and harsh sounding, but that was never said of this machine. It is an upgraded version of the Marantz CD 65 II player but with high quality capacitors and gold plated sockets etc. and employs Philips superb TDA1541A 16 bit DAC with 4 times oversampling. Its soundstage is spacious and detailed with excellent images and depth, and bass is clear and full.

It comes with a remote control, it's reasonably well built and mine has been trouble free for 20 years. Expect to pay around $100 for one secondhand now and it's well worth a listen, it's a great sounding 1980s CD player.
