Strength:

Very musical, great detail and sweetness

Weakness:

Tracking could be better.

This is a very fine unit. Has tremendous sense of air and depth to the stereo image. Not a trace of CD hardness or harshness. String tones almost the equal of LP's.

Strength:

sounds like a refined LP! solidly built and very stable.

Weakness:

none!

first of all, those who have not auditioned valve CD players, must try the cj-dv2b. it is like a refined turn table, that has no pops or clicks or any distortion whatsoever, but has that magical abience that only LP's can deliver. the sound has so much more body into it and every musical note has depth, even sounds that are electronic.
the ability to make a difference between various instruments as well as various brands of instruments is very aparent. the dv2b however does prefer music that is more natural and live, which what cj is all about. rock, pop, and synthesized music is as good, but a less expensive CD player will do just fine for music in that range.
you will have to change the valves according to cj once every two-three years depending on usage. other than that, just plug in and play and welcome to the essence of valve magic!
the prices vary from country to country, however the dv2b may be purchased in the range of $3000-$3500 depending on shipping and handling charges. MSRP in the USA is somewhere around $3000, and believe me it's worth it! every penny and every dollar is truely worth! I will conclude this review with a comment" the cj-dv2b not only lets you listen to the music, but also lets you look into the music."
happy listening, Raj J

Strength:

Very lovely and musical sound, almost shockingly good for a CD. Close to the kind of musicality you expect from great LP rig.

Weakness:

I have heard solid state designs that had greater high end extension and tighter deeper bass. However they inevitably do not sound as musical and enjoyable overall.

This is a stompingly musical cd player, with natural highs, glorious mids, and great liquidity for a cd player. I think that this is the least expensive cd player I have have heard that I'd be happy living with long term in a high end (i.e. highly revealing) audiophile system.
