Strength:

Color saturation, cleaness, precision, contrast

Weakness:

None except the s-video connectors that could be tighter

I am not a Monster fan. I don't like their audio interconnects. But for video cable, the Z300 is really good, more precise than the Monster M1000, and much better than the new line of ACOUSTIC RESEARCH (with noise filter) wich lacks color saturation and contrast.

Strength:

Outstanding color saturation, true blacks

Weakness:

Pricey

Installed this cable (1M) between my monitor and an RF Systems audio-video switch. It replaced an older monster M1000SV cable, which was transfered to another component. I had been using the older M1000SV cable several months, and when I swapped in this in I was equally pleased. They are excellent cables. I recommend them to all videophyles using high-end DVD and LD sources.

Awesome cables that brought my system up to a new level of crispness and clarity. Absolutely worth the extra $$. The cable itself is built well, and delivers on its promises.

The other day I purchased the Monster Z300 Reference S-Video (upgrading from Video 2 S-video)....and to my amazement, this is the best cable I have ever purchased. I am using it in conjunction with my Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player on my Denon AVR 3200 and Yamaha DSP-A1...geez, I had to re-run Video Essentials to recalibrate my picture. Definately alot of detail, clarity, and sharpness. Not bad for $99 for a 6ft cord (Bought two). Monster claims these have zero loss up to 250 ft. Oh and the ruggedness of the cable is unbelievable....feels like snake skin (the gauzey mesh protective skin). Get some of these...you will not go unpleased.

Strength:

solid build, machine made, tested on ISF certified equipment
great clairty across the color spectrum.

Weakness:

because its a monster cable, it gets bashed

first of all, monster makes a great video cable...period!, and i believe the only reason high-end shops push the independents so much is because monster cables are everywhere.

i originally purchased the Z300 back in 99, but at the time i was still "looking" for the "demi-god" of cables. during this search i called a local shop which carried straightwire, and the salesman told their entry-level cable "chewed up and spit out" the $10 more a meter monsters. i fell for the hype and purchased them, nice looking btw, i went home and did the a/b thing, and i honestly thought i saw a difference, but in retrospect, i only wanted to believe there was one. well now im back with monster.....this is why:

when i purchased a monster cable that turned out defective, i would take it back to the place of purchase and they would exchange it, no questions.

well one of my straightwires had a faulty pin that fell out, when i took it back to the store, they "had to send it out", when i got my cable back it was as good as new, only 4" shorter.

monster has an excellent warranty on their products and that alone says a lot about the quality they put into them.

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE PEOPLE!!!

Strength:

Sharper than regular S-video

Weakness:

At least twice the price

In short, I used a thin s-video cable to start, but I didn't gain clarity from my Monster Coax video cable. I stumbled across a store that had the Monster S-video and presto, your friends are drooling.

I just replaced Monster Video 2 with the Z300. I could not believe the picture. Wonderful. I was getting ground loop bars and it completely stopped them. Will gladly recommend the Z300. Worth the money.

Strength:

Bulletproof conscruction and unbelievable picture quality!

Weakness:

$100 for a 2 meter cable!!! Ouch!!!

This is probably the best looking and feeling cable Ive ever seen. The external wire mesh is totally non-functional but cool nonetheless. Picture quality on my Sony KV27FS12 and Sony DVPS360 looks perfect!
