Strength:

Sonically neutral, smooth highs, no "silver glare", solid dynamics, width, depth, detail, focus, air between instruments. Cures many ills caused by lesser cables.

Weakness:

Neutrality is not a cure-all for poor source material or bad amps.

At the outset I must say that the Equinox+ III interconnect is one of the most listenable and neutral cables I've ever heard, at any price. At first connect they're a little nasal, but after 50 hours burn-in they mellowed nicely. After 100 hours, bingo! Excellent soundstage width and depth, very open, smooth, and precise treble. Happily, the usual treble glare and hardness of silver cable is completely missing. Bass is well defined, VERY deep, and sensibly balanced with the rest of the spectrum. Detail, attack, dynamics, timbre and texture...all are as natural ("unenhanced") as any I've ever heard. A caveat: this product will cure many ills caused by overly bright, bass-shy, or tubby-sounding cables from other makers, buts its excellent neutrality will accomplish little for cheap or sonically imbalanced source or target components. This is truly a product for systems that are already inately capable of decent performance. This is at it should be: the best interconnect is one that transmits a signal with as little damage as possible, and this one fills the bill. It neither adds nor subtracts from a good system, but does a great job of revealing what's really there. When you consider that most cables in this price range (and much higher) commit a multitude of sins and omissions in one department or other, this product's overall musicality and smooth sonic balance are no small feat. System now used: Adcom GPT-450 praamp/tuner and GFP-565 preamp, Dyna A410 amp, Denon DCD-1650AR player and MSB Link DACC III, AR ES-1/Audioquest phono, Illuminations DV-75 coax, original-edition (1990 vintage) Monster M1000, B&K and PSB speakers, PSB subwoofer with custom solid-core copper cable. Placing the Equinox+ III between preamp and amp really allowed this sysetm to freely do its thing, and I'm more than satisfied with the results, especially at this price.

Strength:

Solid performance from top to bottem, at a sensible price.

I have been using these interconnects for about 3 months as supplied by UHF Mag. with WBT connectors. A verry good performance even compared with more expensive cables like Nordost SPM who appear somehow thin compared whith the Equinox III, who in turn are much more open than the Cardas Neutral reference.

However carful system matching as always is required.
