Strength:

I bought these years ago. Nearly 25 years ago. Maybe 30. Not that I constantly using them, but when I do I have them cranking pretty much loud. I found some amps over the years that can really handle a lot of wattage. And the speakers do not disappoint. If you’re listening to Judas priest, or Genesis, the drums are incredible coming from the albums. I’ve cranked all Montrose (with Sammy Hagar), the first album just called Montrose. All on a turntable. What a sound! Love them. I also have them in tandem with some old Organ speakers. The organ speakers add to the deep base. But I’m surprised that these Jensen’s also have a nice Crisp bass too.

Weakness:

With a horn tweeter and mid they might be good rock speakers but very poor at classical music or jazz. used ibc tote tanks

Strength:

Nice enjoyable even sound with no EQ. They actually tell you specifically not to EQ. Great fullness to the sound. Great low end extension and nice clear highs. Also, smooth mids. To me, this speaker is quite flat in an awesome way. Love watching movies with these as well as most music genres. Sounds perfect with a QSC GX3 Amp.

Weakness:

Shouldn’t be given EDM music with subsonic bass supposedly, due to possibility of breaking something (as they say in the manual). Has some resonance from the sub grill it seems. It’s most noticeable when you stop audio suddenly. *Update* I tried them with my QSC GX3 amp and there’s no distortion in the highs or hiss. It was an amp issue. Will be buying another one of those amps. It’s a perfect match.

Where to start, the problem with the JP1200's is frequency response. It's listed as 35 Hz, and can supposedly handle 300 watts. With an 8" woofer in a 19" box, No way. It weighs less than 25 lbs. Even with the two vents it would need a massive magnet and voice coil in the woofer. I was given these speakers when my brother passed away, so I didn't buy them. With the horn tweeter and mid range they would make better P.A. speakers. Not that the sound is bad, its not.
They're neither fish nor foul. If you like rock music loud the 1200's will work. But I wouldn't push the 300 watt claim. For classical or chamber music not so good.
Balance is pretty good but accuracy is average, and forget about imaging. Still if you can get them cheap, go for it. You'd be better off with an old pair of EPI 100's in good working order.

Strength:

Great tight bass

Weakness:

No crossovers. The midrange and tweeter look like the same, except for plastic horns.

They are great speakers for the price, well balanced and rugged. There well balnced and sound ok. They will get loud with not much distortion. I don't see how they can handle 300 watts 60watts gets them LOUD! They don't sound as good as paradigm studio 80's, but sound Great for $40
