Bottom Line:
I tend to get interested in higher end old stuff and came across these CX100's a few months ago... I have bought and refoamed a couple of Aluminum pairs. I have to say the sound is excellent and so well balanced, top notch matched with a Bose Acoustimas sub. There isn't any of that mid range muddy sound that you get with a lot of mass produced speakers out there, you can hear a lot of depth in the music production, high end frequency is great and the bass is best described as tight and 'punchy'. You can see the build quality is very high all over these little speakers, including Hifi development... i have recovered the grill's in current B&O nylon material which means you can get a nice selection of colours, they are super sharp looking and go well with my new 65" Aquos. Bang and olufsen are a class act - timeless.

Fantastic book shelf speakers that don't come better in that size. As i got my parents old speakers i repaired the cones and was left with nice and crispy sound. I went to one of the leading Hi-Fi dealers in DK and asked for a replacement in the same size or smaller. They said that there wasnt one - at least for a reasonable price. Not bad for such an old product.
Add a subwoofer and you have a fantastic sound that still looks good.

Very natural and clear sound. I have them wall-mounted over my computer desk. Added the sub-woofer from my computer system to overcome lack of sub-bass. Perfect!

Bottom Line:
These speakers were first bought almost ten years ago. After enjoying them for many years it was disconnected from the main system and relocated to the storage room. Recently however, I chanced upon these jewels and activated them once again. Expecting to be surrounded by sound I was instead hit by rattles and uneveness in the midrange, but a trip to the B&O service centre fixed it by replacing the four main cones. Now it serves as a fabulous second system. I'm sure there are better bookshelf speakers out there in the market, but you know the old adage, "be satisfied with what you have". I'm very satisfied for now!

Bottom Line:
I've had these speakers for over 10 years and use them happily every day. They do what they were designed to do very well; these are not audiophile speakers, just very nice mass-market products. They can play loud in a modestly sized room - ideal for casual listening in the kitchen, bedroom, office, or in a small apartement or condo. Bass doesn't go very deep, but the sound is quite nice nonetheless for such a compact speaker. I've never listened to these speakers critically to gauge their soundstage - I just place them in any old place where they can squeeze in and enjoy the music in rooms that never had music before. Even though these speakers were expensive when I bought them, they're worth the price because they will never go out of style and I'll probably use them for at least another 10 or 20 years.
