Toshiba TP55H95 Rear Projection

Toshiba TP55H95 Rear Projection

DESCRIPTION

Toshiba 55-inch High-Contrast Dark Tint Screen With Built-in Protective Cover - Toshiba is dedicated to total picture performance. That's why the TP55H95 features 7-inch Hi-Bright Electrostatic CRTs instead of the competition's 3- or 5-inch tubes. The CRTs have Large Aperture Electron Guns and a negative radius design for consistent corner-to-corner sharpness. The Dark-Tint screen improves contrast as much as 18% for bolder, richer colors. The screen's Surface Layer Diffuser also lets more light through for an even brighter picture. A digital comb filter practically eliminates dot-crawl and color-interference. The result is an exceptionally accurate picture with uniform brightness across the entire screen. And the built-in protective cover protects the screen from accidental damage.

2-Tuner Picture-in-Picture (PIP) - Want to keep your eye on the playoffs and your favorite comedy - at the same time? The TP55H95 has two built-in tuners so you can watch two channels simultaneously. Simply press the PIP window key on the remote (1/9th or 1/16th the screen size) and position it in any corner. Each picture is processed separately, ensuring excellent color clarity and sharpness.

Multi-Window (Channel Preview, Favorite Channel, Strobe) - Channel surfing has never been easier - or more convenient. Once you've chosen your FAVORITE CHANNELS, press a button and you'll see nine windows with your favorite programs on view. One-touch and you can ""surf"" right to it. With the CHANNEL PREVIEW feature, six windows appear on screen, regularly scrolling through all the channels on your system. And with STROBE, you can watch exciting action as a series of frames, stepping through them one at time.

37-Key Intelligent Universal Back-Lit Remote Control - No more fumbling for the right remote control buttons in darkened home theaters... no more searching for lost remotes. The TP55H95 has a back-lit remote with an illuminated keypad for effortless operation. The intelligent remote can ""learn"" the commands of other remotes in your system.

Strength:

Dependability Color warmth Clear picture Price

Weakness:

Not HDTV compatible

I have owned this set for a little over four years and I just had my first repair last week ($100 power cord to one projector lamp). This projection television provides a very clear picture and warm colors. This is my third Toshiba and all three still work and have been very dependable. The technician that worked on my projection set confirmed that Toshiba's are generally one of the two best made sets (along with Hitachi) and are very reliable. This projection set is not the absolute best, but for the money and reliability there is nothing better. Until HDTV is more widely adopted, I will stick with this set and enjoy the clear picture and greater performance.
