Summary:
I was looking for a 20" TV/VCR combo for my bedroom with a flat screen and stereo inputs for my PS/2 as well.

Most of the products I find are mostly non flat screens or has a stereo TV but with a mono VCR.

I can only find the JVC and the Toshiba MV20FL4 available on the market at that time.

Well, they are very, very similar both in appearance and performance. But the ultimate deal clincher is the S-VHS playback on the JVC, simply because I have S-VHS VCRs all around the house.

Overall performance can be considered good for the price but I think JVC went cost cutting in the VCR area. The motors makes rather loud whirring noises, and if you watch a tape late at night with the volume down, you can hear them! The motors are slow in both FF and REW as well. The time it took to rewind a tape my Mitsubishis' can do TWO!!!

The Remote on the other hand is really great with every function you would require.

Also I notice the picture to be tilted slightly to the right, and against signals with a completely white background, these is a very faint pinkish circle in the middle of the screen. I doubt if the tube was also made in Thailand as well? It doesn't really bother me as I use the set for casual stuff, I have really heavy duty HDTV gear in the living room for all those serious viewing!

This is no Sony WEGA, but then not Memorex either. I guess it's still good value if you are not overly picky.

Strengths:
- Good quality picture
- S-VHS playback
- Stereo sounds
- Great remote
- Front A/V input jacks (Stereo)

Weaknesses:
- Noisy VCR
- Slow rewind/FF motors
- Slightly tilted picture
- Made in Thailand
