For those who insist that the 1200 Mk2, or any of its versions, is a DJ tool only, I have to remind them that very few other turntables in the world, no matter their price range, can even approach its tech specs. I'm also refering to home use. Wow & rumble, speed stability, a plethora of adjustments and a build to last for a lifetime. Finish and materials are exceptional. Some say that the arm is a "cheapo". I wouldn't say this if I had the least essential technical knowledge and examine it even with a microscope. The matter is that those "hi-end gurus" feel very embarassed when they realise that an industry and technology giant can produce a machine that beats down their exotic gems for a tenth or even a twentieth of their prices, to be honest...
From the SL 1200 to the Sl 1200GLD and MK6, after almost 40 years, this turmtable represents the absolute measure of analogue sound reproduction, at a price that other manufacturers cannot even dream of, if they would build something alike... My SL 1200GLD is the epitomy of its history, both in looks and specs. And I won't ever change it, thus I am giving 5 stars without a second thought!
