This model of Canary amplifer, it and its predecessor, the 309, are one of the best 45-50 watt tube amps you can buy, period. For most of us, the new price is out of consideration, but pick up a used pair, and you will be delighted. Superb construction, reliability, and sound. Great looks, can easily compete with the sound quality of low powered single ended amplifiers, all the detail, imaging, depth, width, layering, richness that one could desire. they are very quiet, work extremely well with high efficiency speakers, but obviously will simply loaf along in that application. Very responsive to tube selection, TJ premium meshplates are superb in this amp. Likewise input and rectifier tube selection. The 309, the WE Gothams, and the 339 are practically the same amps, the difference being the 339 has an output transformer that gives an additional 5 watts, and has different coupling caps. Several great reviews on line, read them, and believe them, as for once, the reviews were accurate!

these could easily cause you to cease your search for the "ultimate amp"
