I got my pair at a great discount due to the fact that they were dealer demos with about 500 hours on them.
Even if I'd paid list price for them, I would have considered them to be worth every penny. The sound is nothing short of extraordinary. They reveal more detail than I ever thought possible with a tube amp. Even more than my previous high end solid state amplifier. Yet they do so with grace. The details are all there, but they're never harsh or etched. They sound silky smooth and natural. They also have plenty of snap and dynamics. The mid range is rich and the bass and treble extension is very good in the ultralinear mode. The triode mode sounds really good, but does slightly compromise the upper and lower extremes. But then again, that's just the nature of tube amplifiers.
All in all I've never been more pleased with what I'm hearing from my system. Since purchasing the Canary 160s it has become much more difficult to pull myself away from listening sessions.
I think I can safely say that these are probably the last amps I'll ever own. They're that good.
