AudioSource Monoblock Amplifier Amplifiers

AudioSource Monoblock Amplifier Amplifiers

DESCRIPTION

AudioSource power amps provide high sound pressure levels, as well as subtle details, with accuracy and transparency. You wont find better sounding amps at anywhere near the price. A torodial power transformer keeps stray magnetic fields to a minimum, and the discrete output devices ensure pure signal fidelity. Separate channel level controls allow for individual adjustment. A defeatable peak limiter circuit protects speakers from distortion at high volumes, and an auto-on circuit powers up the unit with a preamp signal and powers it down when no signal is present.

Audiosource AMP-5.3A overheats
By JTO from North Carolina on 12/1/2007

Pros:
Clean Sound, Good for headphones only, Makes a good foot warmer
Cons:
Overheats over 50 watts, Weak
Best Uses:
Perfect for a 4x4x4 room
Describe Yourself:
Professional, 50 years of HI-FI
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not a pleasant experience at all, they overheat and shut down if driven harder than 50 watts continuously. Cooling fan is a mere 3.3 CFM and it needs 30 CFM to keep it cool enough to deliver 150 watts RMS. Shuts down after 10 minutes, then resets and cuts out every 30 seconds thereafter.
Tech support is very diplomatic but offer no solutions except:
"Send them back and buy a pair that better suit your needs"

Customer Service

customernoservice was quick to answer e-mails but offered no practical solutions other than to buy someone elses product.
