Strength:

Audiophile sound.

Weakness:

Burn-in takes about 100 hours.

This is a rather economical means of getting into high-end quality sound. I can find very little wrong with this receiver. I would compare this with amps costing much more. Onkyo seemingly has taken upscale audio technology and mass produced it at lower cost. I use a Cambridge Azur 640C v.2 CD player as my source and get a great sound. Before you spend a lot on amplification try this unit out. If you are like me you wont go farther. At 100 watts it drives my Tannoys quite well.

The sound is characterized by very good clarity. Tone controls are responsive and dont seem to add distortion. Only very inefficient speakers will require a more powerful receiver. The Onkyo people have a winner here.
