Like the other reviewer, I have two of the XVR-1 which makes it a 3 way set up. The Basic XVR-1 retails for 5k and includes the control unit and a power supply. The power supply can support two control units. Adding a second control unit is another 3k. Yes, 8,000msrp for this setup which can be had for just under 7K. There are competitors out there, but none offer what is possible with these units from PASS LABS. I refuse to buy anything with a set crossover point. I'm not willing to send in for additional modules just to try out a diferent slope. The PASS units do anything you need. 6/12/18/24db slopes Adjustable Q. There is just nothing out there that comes close. Looking at similar units from Marcand electronics, Krell, and Space-tech costing 4-8k and you will find excellent products with little to no flexibility.

Incredibly flexible - has 6, 12, 18 & 24 dB slopes, multiple XO Fqs and allows adjustment in the bandpass as well as volume to hi & low pass drivers. Everythings done with dip switches and jumpers - you don't need to take boards out or send unit to factory. This is used by speaker designers to adjust their speakers.

Not a digital based unit - it's analogue. If your listening to records and don't want digital processing this is the ticket.

Great build quality better than Marchand & Bryston by a large margin.

Will take some experimentation to find the best settings. Great for a tweaker not plug & play although you could just duplicate your existing passive XO if you know what they are.

Yes -- it's very expensive.

This unit is very transparent with no electronic signature or impact on the sound I can hear compared with the other active XOs I was using. I used this (an XVR-1-3) with a pair of Magnepan 3.5s in a tri-amped set up with a subwoofer. Manual and settings take awhile to figure out. It's built like a tank.

This would be best for a more experienced stereo user, someone who wants a multi-amped set up or subwoofers. Using it bypasses the passive crossover distortion, results in increased transparency as well as efficiency and allows lots of adjustments for perfect room and speaker matching.

This is probably the best active speaker crossover available.
