Bottom Line:
If you want one of the finest Pre-amplifiers ever made, even today, the KWP from Musical Fidelity should be your first choice, if you manage to find one.

I am sorry to say, but i would disregard the other reviewers comments as they are very far off the mark. Can you fault the sound of the KWP in any way? Simple answer is no. There is no lack of bass weight, or resolution and no roll off. If you hear this, look to other parts of your system because its not the fault of the Musical Fidelity KWP.

Happy Listening.

Bottom Line:
KWP strenghth are within really lovely and forward vocals, large soundstage and mid band detail. Its weakness lies in low output of bass and lower midrange, lack of upper treble detail and resolution. On Quality cone speakers, PMC, it lacks rythem due to low bass foundation and poorly defined highs can cause listerner fatique. On Ribbons, Ambience Grand Reference, much the same and on Electrostats, Acorns by Rob McKinlay, Bass is softer but tuneful, great vocals but lack definition / resolution and general detail in the high frequencies.
Compared to Audo Reseach LS17, really full on musical, Pass Labs X 2.5, great detail, soundstage and bass etc. KWP worked best with ESL speakers however depending on ones musical tastes, as they do vocals wonderfully and forward but sounds compromised every where else.

Strength: Vocals are really sweet and forward.

Weakness: Size of twin chassis units, cost, lack of bass weight and hence timing, top end resolution and detail everage and rolls off early.
