Bottom Line:
The Fuga Tube Reference Phono Preamp is dead-quiet. It can handle very low-output MC cartridges, and deliver silent background with unrestricted, yet natural dynamics.
It does not share the muddy "tubey" sound, it's a wide-band, plenty-of-detail, natural sounding preamplifier.
Paired with the right cartridge, it sports a fine micro-detail, an immediate transient response, without ever sounding etched or hard.
It's very accurate in revealing the real sonic nature of the reproduced records, without a trace of hardness or congestion, with a great resolution of low-level detail.
I love its bass extension, solid and sculpted, and top-end extension.
The Fuga Reference Phono strong point is its uncommon ability to let through, unimpeded, what was coming from the cartridge, with great overall tonal balance, a deeper sound stage and three-dimensional imaging.
A really serious contender in the restricted area of the best possible vinyl reproduction system available.
