This is a GREAT little amp!

Although I own an assortment of audio equipment, quite by accident I have amassed an entirely Onix audio system.
It started with the Onix SP-3 tube integrated amp which is a real winner, and a real steal on the used market.
Through Walter at Underwood Audio I then lucked into a modified Onix CD-3. This unit is musical and excellent.
Although I own Rega loudspeakers which I love, I decided to buy and try a pair of Onix Reference 1 Mk 2's.
When a good condition Onix A-120 Mk II came up for sale on Audiogon I decided to grab it.
I am very glad I did.
The Onix A-120 Mk II has a lot of clean power. I have used it to drive 4, 6 and 8 ohm speakers of various efficiencies.
The amp is simple to set up and operate. Details about this can be found elsewhere.
The sound is FANTASTIC. The amp sounds remarkably tube-like and IMHO is quite audiophile sounding.
Detail and imaging are very good. Treble and midrange are clear and well defined without being fatiguing or harsh. Cymbals and bells are shimmeringly reproduced. I don't listen to a lot of vocal music, but I cannot see how this amp would not reproduce them well.
Bass is powerful, well defined and wonderfully reproduced. As there are no tone controls you will only be hearing the bass that is present on the recording. Whatever is there you will hear.
I thought I would listen only to tubes but this amp sounds so tube like in the midrange and treble, and handles bass so well that it is an absolute keeper.
