The PM5004 features current feedback design. This extraordinary circuit accurately tracks quickly changing, wide bandwidth musical signals for greater resolution of fine musical detail. The amplifiers themselves are custom-designed entirely with discrete components so you don't suffer any of the built-in limitations of off-the-shelf integrated circuits. Integrated amplifiers are the best choice for anyone looking for superb performance without the complexity or cost of a comparable receiver or preamplifier/power amplifier combination. Their minimalist design (no tuner, no fancy processing) means that the engineering team concentrates on the essentials that directly contribute to better sound. So, depending on your point of view, you either get a lot more than you paid for or spent a lot less than you thought you would. That sounds like a "win-win" situation to us. And the PM5004 will sound even better to you.
For the money, this is a great buy with excellent sound!
I had been using my 40 year old Pioneer Integrated Amp with the original Dual 621 Direct Drive Turntable since 1975-1978, but all things break. The Dual turntable went first and I replaced it with a Staunton T.90 USB Direct Drive. Next, the amp started losing sound intermittently. I always dreamed of a Marantz since college (when I bought the Pioneer). I simply wanted something that could do what a good IA (Integrated Amplifier) should do: connect components and pump out great sound to the speakers (currently a 40 year old rebuilt pair of Utah's with 12" woofers, 2" tweeters, 5" horns).
The Marantz 5004 does exactly that in spades! I also plug in my iPad/MacBook via the 3.5mm speaker output into the AUX port and that works perfectly!
All that remains is to buy a new pair of floor standing speakers, a pair of bookshelf speakers, a CD/Cassette/USB recorder, Tuner, and ......
Stereos can become and addition!
