Strength:

Real and sweet. Musical. Great performance in jazz music.

Weakness:

Bass control is not enough. Not power enough in classic music.

CD player Ultech ucd-100 for one year.
Amp Luxman sq-38s
Speaker Sonus Faber concerto grand piano.
It seems that the speaker and the amp get well together. Enjoy their music and will send reviews after three monthes.

No rating this time but I love the sound they play. Listen to the music for about 4 hours each day.

Strength:

Very musical, good bass defination, comes with built in phono stage (MM only). Uses EL34 power tubes which means you have a wide selection of brands to choose from. Svetlana, Telsa, Sovtek, Golden Dragon, Ei.

Weakness:

Uses less popular 12BH7A and 12AU7A pre-amp tubes.

Absolutely nothing to complain about this amp. I use it with the Copland 289 CD Player and a pair of Primare L30 speakers. My turntable is the CEC ST930 with Grado Plat Cart. If you're looking for a value for money system – I know, I know, the above mentioned system is'nt cheap – but it's still value for money. The Copland is the first CD Player in a long list of CD Players that actually sound okay by vinyl standards. I have not heard a better CD Player even at twice the price. Enough Said!

I have use the amp for 5 months. I have change my cd from ucd-100 to counterpoint cd-11 and Audio Synthesis DAX. The amp can control the Concerto Grand Piano well and give me deep base and make me follo the rythem of the music. The amp does not sound like the old luxman which sounds soft and not so clear. It is a moden tube amp which you can feel its speed and control. Remember I am in HK where my listen room is only 120 sqft. The amp has enough power to drive the speaker well. The detail of the music is clear with silky feel. I have just sell all the cd systems and change to a Linn ikemi. I will back after some days to give a full review.

The amp is a well design and can give you good music. You should have a trial and bought one if you can. Sure this amp is class A amp.
