Strength:

Very dynamic, musical, smooth top end ,the bass is worth dying for,the very best exceptional performance amp that will drive most speakers with ease. I used the SB301 to drive either the tweeters panels or the bass drivers panels with excellent sound. I also used the SB 301 drive the 3.7I magnepan and boy talk about large soundstage! runs a little warm but that doesn't bother me ( it's not to hot to touch kind of deal)Very large soundstage even with low volume it gives you all the details of a good quality lifetime equipment.

Weakness:

Amp runs a little bit warmer but not too big of a deal.

A superb piece of equipment that drives my power-hungry Revel Ultima Salon 2 speakers to tremendous volumes while remaining clean and undistorted. The bass is deep, powerful and controlled; midrange is smooth and liquid-sounding, almost tube-like; the treble clean and well-detailed without being clinical or etched.

The SB-301 also has tremendous dynamic range and powers the Salon 2s from a whisper to a roar effortlessly. Soundstage is deep and wide, and stereo separation is excellent.

In short, this is one great amplifier that stands up well to names like Classe, Pass, McIntosh and Krell. I much prefer the SB-301 with the Salon 2s over a Mark Levinson 532H amplifier that I heard while auditioning equipment - the ML's bass was markedly inferior, as was its dynamism.

Bargains can be found online for the SB-301 and its immediate predecessor SB-300 that is very similar. If you've got large speakers that demand a substantial amount of power to sound their best, the Plinius SB-301 should be on your short list of power amplifiers to consider.
