Strength:

Completely Overbuilt

They have meters and individual channel volume controls, so purists and wannabee's don't care about them.....so they are often available for far far far less than their actual audio value.

They are effortless with power, and can cast a huge soundstage with the correct associated equipment.

Weakness:

At used equipment prices...What's not to love?

I now have two of these BGW 750G's, and have had several others. These are the most under-rated amps on the planet - bar none. I have them driving the low band and upper band of my full range David Graebener-designed ribbons from the early 1990's (long before he started Bohlender-Graebener).

The amps have 4800 watts of heat dissapation capacity (12 output transistors per channel, 24 total, rated at 200 watts each) and are therefore completely overbuilt and utterly bulletproof. That, of course, would mean nothing at all if they also sounded like crap, but never fear, these amps are as neutral and articulate as anything from Krell or Mac or Bryston - I've owned them all. And, with all that power, these amp never seem to get winded and become harsh at all.

Opps, did I commit audio blashphemy by comparing a lowly BGW to Krell? So what of it? Okay, I'll give you the straight up Class A amps.

The best of the series is obviously the 750G series. The 750E series is just as good, but just a few years older. The 750B series is also a workhorse, but is getting to the age now that cpacitors will need to be changed for serious critical listening.

By the way, you can tell the manufacture date on all BGW amps by the first two digits of the serial number.

Good luck.
