great dvd decoding....nice design

cant use the remote to do all functions.....cant preset levels to each indpendent source...

concerning onkyo tx-ds575.....no sound....souloution.....turn reciever on press speaker "A" and "video 1" at the same time.....should clear your system....worked for me...let me know????

This was a great product untill this happened, unlike the DVD that only lasted 3 months. No down side i guess if you only want to keep a product for a couple of years and then not be able to sell it because of its reviews.

Reliability, customer support, and could use a little more power.

Ive just started having similar problems to the rest of the reviews. I loose sound and have to switch between sources to get it to come back. Receiver was great untill now. I didn't even have the infamous hiss. I'm pretty upset considering my onkyo DVD player is in the shop right now. Ive been buying mid grade audio equipment for 15 years and this is the first time Ive ever needed repairs.

My Onkyo TX-DS575 is also dying out on me. Sound just disappears then it suddenly starts working again. It's a shame because otherwise the receiver was great. Good quality sound (when there was sound), lots of useful features, and a terrific remote; too bad it turned out to be a pile of junk!

It is pretty loud for 70w but at times (very few) I thought I might need more power. I especially like the 5 channel stereo option which most other receivers DON'T HAVE.... this allows you to have the back and front in stereo while listening to CD's or television... MTV!!! I will get another one in the future - next time with more power!

Maybe a little too weak... if you really must crank it!

I have owned this receiver since 1999 and I have not had the same problems that the previous reviewers are experiencing. I think this is a great receiver, but after hearing of the problems that may effect me soon, I will probably sell this receiver to purchase a Nakamichi AV10.

This 5.1 channels receiver have been worked flawless since i bought it two years ago eventhough i never use high quality speaker , only i bought KIPSCH 12" powered subwoofer , cheap bookshelf Jbl speaker ,an old atlantic technology center channel and a custom made rear speaker build with used infinity inverted dust cap midrange speaker,and so far they fill up a room of 12" X 12 without any effort ,evenwhen the relative volume is set at -10 ,only when i suddenly watch i really good movie,so it depends how you take advantages of the funtions this product offer.

Good Build Quality. 3 Year Warranty... Sound is great for HT uses! 3 STARS because I am reasonably satisfied for 4 years of good use out of this unit.

Costomer Service SUCKS! This has a big problem ... I think Onkyo should do the right thing and RECALL all these defective units.... Even tho, I really like this reciever I am going to find it hard to upgrade to another ONKYO. ESP, if the rest of them have problems like this one. Clips for effect speakers is bad. HISSing is BAD...

I posted a review on this unit WAY back... I was really liking this unit. It was built super nice. BIG huge heat sinks. Was built like a tank and clean.... Now I am getting what everyone else is getting... Besides the "HISSING" noise witch I could live with ... Sine I never listend to it obove 65 anyway. I am getting the "NO SOUND!" when I switch from CD to DVD or diffrenct sources. So, you got to play the SWITCH back and Fouth until sound comes back. I''ve resorted to just leaving it on. But, that''s a waste of power. Now the DOBY DIGITAL is going out. I mean it''s having a hard time decoding... This thing is slowly dieing out. I''ve had it to a Authorized service center twice. Got tired of taking it back. Probably try to unload it on someone that likes to play with electronics for 100 bucks or what ever I can get out of it.

Sound quality, features, design

No sound and no service

When I purchased the Onkyo unit that I currently have, it was based on the flawless performance of past products and quality. This changed however when I purchased the TX-DS575. The unit worked perfectly for app. 3 months and then function by function died with no sound. I was told to take it to a dealer and he could not fix it and off it went to the factory on the east coast. It was returned to me app. 2 months later and lasted 6 months with the same problem. I personally sent it back to the factory and 2 months later it was returned and it lasted about 1 year. When it worked it was clean and dynamic with DVD''s and other sound tracks. Working with the Onkyo service people was probably the worst experience I have ever had with someone that has a name synonymous with quality. At no time did I feel like my problem was their problem. Would I ever buy another Onkyo product? Absolutely not.

I have owned my onkyo seens 1991 and I most say that it is the best system I have ever had. I never had a problem with it works has good has the day i brought it home.

DTS Remote Sound

No S video.

I have had this receiver about 4 mo. I had a pro logic receiver. This is much better! DTS is awesome! This is my 1st Onkyo product, but not my last! I am very impressed with this receiver! No problems at all. Checked for hiss or humm, I Guess I got lucky! I highly reccomend this receiver!
