Bottom Line:
This receiver was of great value to me. It was designed for six-ohm speakers. I own vintage Infinity speakers, which I use as front speakers for this receiver in the prologic mode and for direct stereo listening. Even though the Infinity speakers' impedance drops at high volume and for bass-heavy music, the receiver has withstood it fairly well (note that I played the music load but did not go near maximum volume to be cautious). At these volumes, there was no difference in loudness between the Kenwood and the Adcoms (2 Adcom amps and a preamp), though the music was more revealing and sweeter in the Kenwood. Home theater was great too, but perhaps so different from other receivers. Remote, even though was great from an aesthetic point of view, was more of a head ache, handling wise, but all right. Over all, a decent receiver that served me well for over 13 years.
