I purchased the 72" AVRAK rotating stand, and could not be happier with it. The rack accomodates 11 components, and can be purchased in an extra wide form. While the AVRACK must be built-in to a cabinet or closet which conforms to the size of the rack, once installed, the rack's ability to rotate 180 degrees allows easy access to the back input of your components. That feature has saved untold headaches, as I tinker with my gear. The price of the rack was less than $1,000 including shipping. When compared to comparable rotating racks, this rack cost about 50% less than its competitors. Once ordered the rack only took three days to arrive.

The only down-side to the rack, is the limit to the amount of weight of components that the rack will handle. Those with heavy block amplifiers may wish to confirm with the manufacturer that the rack will be able to hold all of your components.

I installed this unit the 72" one in my equipment closet. It was wonderful. For the first tme ever my equipment was both accesable and beautiful. It was so easy to pull out and access the back of my equipment. now it is easy to reconfigure and change out components at will . You need this.

i bought the 60" basic black avstand for about $1k. needing to accommodate gear wider than 19", i paid almost $200 more for a wider, custom model of the stand. my decision concluded a three year search for the perfect rack for my home setup. i spent roughly twice what i originally budgeted not counting the time and expense of other solutions that i explored, including my own contrivances.
i have light oak hardwood floors and white walls in my listenting room. in addition, i have cherry monitor audio speakers and about 9 components that i need to find a home for at any one time. i tweak my setup constantly so easy access to the back of the rack was an important criteria in my search as were the ability to hold 9 components, blend in with the current furniture and gear, allow for some cable management, add appeal and order to my listening room, and withstand the kid's occasional playful nudges. of course, i also wanted to spend no more than five to six hundred dollars.

with a home remodel in progress i could not afford to wait while continuing with my experimentation. so my wife forced me to bite the bullet on the avstand. i've lived with it for a month now and am generally pleased with the product. functionally and aesthetically, the avstand is everything it should be. it arrived in one 6 foot box, well protected, with everything necessary for a one hour assembly except the instructions, a ruler and a level. as it turns out, this may be by design. the avstand is so easy to assemble that you shouldn't need instructions. i simply removed the rack from its box, stripped the plastic material from the shelves, adjusted the shelves up or down using the ruler and level, and tightened the racks into place using a small wrench included in the box. after this i placed the rack on its base and put the top shelf on. it was far easier to do than i imagined, although i still have my doubts about the durability and sturdiness of a single bolt holding the rack attached to the base. the single bolt is what allows the rack itself to spin to allow easy access to the rear.

one month into this venture, the rack seems to be holding up very well. it fits very attractively in my listening even. my wife and kids gave it a "wow" rating. my own evaluation is not quite as good. it looks great, seems sturdy enough (for now), and allows great access to the gear. the shelves are infinitely configurable and i've used that to my advantage is utilizing every millimeter i could for cooling. nonetheless, i don't believe the rack is a great value at $1,200. it would need to be considerably more sturdy to convince me of that. cable management also leaves something to be desired as it's simply strips of velcro fitted to the rear of the shelves. finally, the finish is not as refined or polished as i expected, indicating a lack of quality control in manufacturing. the base of the unit had a 10 inch circular scratch that was reason enough to return the unit except that it's hidden by the rack. in addition, there are a number of rough spots in the rear that may be evidence of shortcuts taken in manufacturing.

three stars is all i can justify. given my 5 star components, this is disappointing. so, will i return the rack? no. sadly, my experience is that no one manufactures the perfect rack and, for the moment, this may be as good as it gets. (and yes, i've looked at or tried the lovans, targets, standdesigns, arici, salamander, exotic german stands, and many other products that are out there.)
