Strength:

The user can adjust the horizontal and vertical sharpness, and the black level. Permits component output color sync adjustment. A great asset for critical setup on large screens.

Weakness:

1.) Does not track DTS encoded CD's even though DTS encoded movies play back perfectly. 2.) Remote control is very difficult to use. After a year, I still cannot sort out which button to press for different media operations. 3.) Will not pass lowest Black level in Video Essentials.

I love it but wish it would do everything they claim it will. 96K tracks will not playback nor will DTS encoded CD's. Given the choice I'd look for one that could play back DTS CD's and pass Blacker than black. Any CD player with an optical output will play back DTS CD's. My
Sony 707ES from the late 80's plays them perfectly. No excuse Pioneer!!!!

Similar Products Used:

Pioneer DVL700---This unitwas much easier to operate with a fantastic remote. It lacked component outputs so its picture was very inferior to the DV-09.
