loudness, bass ,controls, sound projection

it gets too hot to quick and requires alot of ventilation.

I dont know what everyone is talking about this receiver is the best i have ever owned. it does more then i ask it to do my only problem is finding good enough speekers to run on it. it offers excellent sound a lot of bass and it has great dolby/dts decoders inside they work very well.

lack of digital inputs,power,No preouts, No S-video.

An OK receiver. It's great for the price I paid. I need more than one optical and one coaxial inputs. There are no S-video. Only Pro-Logic. 100 watts a channel? My ass! It's maybe 50 watts all channels driven. I admit I am being a little harsh for a $90 receiver. The only use for it is if you're just getting into home theatre. It's very easy to set up, and you'll have it up and running within five minutes. That's not exactly a good thing. This can drive my speakers to good volumes, but the highs get quite harsh once you get it at a loud volume. I never had a problem with this receiver at all. The Dolby Digital and DTS are alright. I would reccomend this to someone just starting into HT or would like surround sound for their computer. This is a great value, but the product isn't.

It seems to have more power than 100 watts rms! If you have a good surround system your fine. The price is awesome.

I wish it had more than 1 optical input, otherwise nothing.

This receiver is the shiznit. Before I bought it I was like ok this is gonna be a peice of crap but i was desperate for a receiver and i didnt have money...so i went and bought it and it turned out its as good as my friends sony! now i'm glad i bought it.

Easy to use and hook all your different components up. I've have a set of Yamaha surround speakers hooked up and they sound great and i haven't had any distortion problems. So for all you people with the KLH speakers you get what you pay for. You can get good speakers for not much money but KLH are not good speakers.

Antenna!! I've got a powered antenna hooked up and i still struggle to pick up some of my favorite stations and it's a little on the big side so you'll need some space in your entertainment center to accomadate the reciever.

Awesome!! I'm a big fan of JVC just because everybody and their mama has Sony. Sony is fine i just like to be a little different.

DTS/Dolby 5.1, easy expandability, easy setup. A manual that actually explains what the various settings do and tells you what to select based upon your other equipment.

The remote, it sucks. If you don't have a JVC TV or VCR you'll find yourself only using the Power and Volume buttons for the most part. Also, you can only use a powered subwoofer with it. If you don't have one, or you have a passive woofer, you're SOL.

I wonder what receiver the people complaining about center speaker distortion and surround speaker volume are using, because I've had no problems with this JVC in those regards. Perhaps it's their choice of speakers that are causing the problem, KLH or Cerwin Vega speaks probably do sound bad with the JVC receiver; those speaks sound bad with *any* receiver! I'm using middle of the road Sony's, and it sounds great. This unit is a great introductory model for home theater, it's inexpensive and has easy to understand features / settings. I set it up in under 15 mins, and again, unlike the others, found the manual easy to understand and easy to read. My manual does explain how to set up an equalizer with it, something the others must have missed. Perhaps JVC has updated the manual and fixed the problems other posters have mentioned? While being a good HT starter receiver, it will not please the higher end looking audionauts. But then, they should realize this and will probably not be looking at this receiver to begin with. I got a great deal on mine, %50 of an already marked down price at a Fred Meyer's store that was getting out of the component audio business, so for $80 I'm very pleased. Regular retail is around $200 on this unit, and from my experience it performs as well as a $200 receiver will.

This receiver does a good job for what it's made for - dirt cheap DTS and AC3 home theater. I think some of the reviewers were unfair in approaching their reviews from a hi-fi perspective. I didn't have any of the distortion others had, but I definitely agree that the power is weak... 100WPC seems extremely overstated. The sound quality is adequate for the average joe who just wants to get some surround sound going, but the rear levels seems much lower than the mains, but that could be contributed to the discrepancies between my main and rear channel speakers. The interface is quite cumbersome as every setting is controlled by 4 or so butttons (I dumped this receiver a few months ago so I don't know exactly) and the remote is poorly designed as well. This receiver is by no means something of "high quality" but I'm not going to be a snob and thrash it because it doesn't appeal to my higher standards. Again, for the average person, it is a bargain and will get the job done fine... though the interface and manual will give that person a hard time. However, since the reviews are not split into categories for different types of listeners I'll have to give it a low rating in comparison to the upper echelon of HT receivers.

Having a problem finding JVC AV COMPU LINK cables...other than that...NONE

I bought a JVC RX-6010VBK a/V reciever and I was blowed away by the performance.I added it to 5 JBL suround speakers and a Infinity sub,JVC DVD and Hi Fi VCR.It replaced a JBL.Very clean and strong sound..very..Sound like it should cost 4 times the purchase price...really!!!
