Strength:

Great power and sound for the money. Power rating comparisons is like 100 watt per channel recievers today. It has a lot of power for its size.

Weakness:

But the tuner is kinda sloppy, and could be better .

Actually I don't quite remember when I bought it but it replaced a NAD 7020. The NAD sounded better but was not very durable. The Denon has served me well since then. I powered my cherished DCM TimeWindows along with Bose 301's. It is a budget receiver pushing 40 watts per channel but the sound was acceptable and better than some that I tried with higher amp ratings. Overall not a bad product. The tuner was not the best however. I recently upgraded to a Onkyo TXSR607.

Strength:

High current amp design- drives low impedence loads
Variable loudness control (like Yamaha)
Remote control legible & easy to use
Binding Post speaker outs for dual banana plugs
smooth, distortion and edge-fee sound
The utmost in reliability

Weakness:

Tuner not the best but I seldom use it
Not suited for large rooms or rock concert levels- more a limitation of the
modest amp power.
No subwoofer out or preamp/power amp jumpers

For 10+ years this unit has driven my bedroom system superbly! 40 conservative
wpc more than adequate for music or movies. Is hooked to a pair of Boston Acoustic
HD9 speakers but also drove a 2nd pair of speakers (Paradigm Atoms) for awhile
with no complaints - just very good sound. Sounds better than the Technics amp
(with 110 wpc) that it replaced - less grainy and fatiguing.
Finally, no breakdowns in 10+ years!!! Controls still smooth and distortion free.
Definitely got my money's worth!

Customer Service

None needed- I've never had the case open in 10+ years! Still works perfectly!
