Picked these up in 1996, mainly because I thought they looked different (kind of like a crash helmet)and they were heavily discounted. Integrated them into 5.1 system as the rears. For this they are great, sound is really wide and the omni directional design wraps the sound right round you.

Strength:

Truly outstanding near-field speakers with excellent dispersion characteristics. Ideal side speakers in a dolby 7.1 setup.

Weakness:

Excels at close miked works. The impression with larger staged works is the illusion of narrower focus.

Smooth response, similar tonal quality to the Rogers LS35a's (with better bottom end). With a CJ PV-6 and a Moscode 300 (modified) backing them up,they are excellent transducers. Bells, especially through the tubes are as about as good as I've heard even through ribbons or electrostatics.

I use a Pair of these as rear Speakers (only occasionaly). They are pretty decent for the 100 Pound I picked them up. That was the Canon liquidation Sale, as they (the Speaker Subsidary) went bust earlier this year. I find them however completly unacceptable as Main-Speakers. Overly bright and coloured Midrange.
As rears they come into their own. The omnidirectional Design gives much better ambiance and the bright sound helps the DOLBY Pro-Logic rear Channel no end.
