was actually looking for a more expensive panasonic model when i saw this on clearance for 200 bucks.. took a chance and picked it up and have been very pleased. i love watching movies in surround sound. music on tv sounds like you're listening straight from a cd or radio.. its great. wonderful deal.

Summary:
you know i got this what i thought was a great system that sounded great and i thought it was a great deal but it wasnt. I got it around christmas 1999 and you know your all excited about it and stuff well after the shock wore off so did the impressive sound. when you turn the volume up to 30(goes up to 50) you get a big thud out of the built in subwoofers(suck) its horrible. the surround sound speakers suck with barly any sound and the sound that comes out crackles. i wouldnt recomend this to anyone that like to listen to alot of music or likes to watch lots of movies.

Summary:
I'll tell you right off the bat: this system is for the casual listener. It will provide decent basstones, decent mid/highs- but that's it. The Pro-Logic modes aren't very good, as low wattage makes for poor surround and the rear output sends out poor, crackly sound to the surround speakers, something that is unacceptable. The subwoofers aren't nearly powerful enough for the more serious listener, but just fine for a casual one- you'll get some good bass out of this. That's about it- it's a good choice for a cramped area for the not-so-picky guy. Decent buy from Aiwa.

Summary:
I bought this mini theatre system, and I couldn't be happier. I didn't pay a whole lot for it, around $300 or so, and it sounds great to me, the surround sound is also impressive. Granted, I only use the cd portion of the system, I enjoy it, and would recommend this product to anyone who wants a good stereo for a decent price.

5 speakers, display, crisp sound, overall, happy with it

lack of similar controls on the console section of the stereo compared to what is on the remote.

Summary:
Like I had mentioned in the weaknesses section, this system is a horrible waste of money. It suffers from poor speaker craftsmanship, lack of power, and the fact that none of the speakers can be replaced and there is no subwoofer output. The reason that the speakers cannot be replaced with ones of higher quality, (although I don't know why you would want to with the tremendous lack of power), is that the surrounds are connected to the system through rca plugs, which no speaker I know of has. Also the mains have a high level input, also rca's, and a low level input connected using speaker wire. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. If you want a mini-system, go to onsale.com and buy the Aiwa NSX-A888, which has much more power. I now have a rack system consisting of three way tower speakers, a JVC reciever that puts out 60x5 watts and an audiosource sub. My recommendations are that if you want your money's worth and really enjoy quality stereo, then invest in a rack system similar to what I have. You will save money in the long run and you will be able to blow your house down with quality sound.

Strengths:
None, this product is a waste of money. I can't think of a worse way to spend money.

Weaknesses:
Everything. The built-in subs sound more like four inch midranges, there is only 140 watts of power. The system pumps out ten watts per channel for surrounds which produces a sound that is only barely noticable. The center channel only recieves 20 watts of power, which is horrible. The prologic is useless because of the terrible lack of power.
