Price Paid:  $279.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
Once again....here we go!!!! I know everybody is entitled to their opinions...but c'mon! The key to getting the best sound quality out of your mini systems is think about some things: Is my house carpeted? is it just bare floors? This all makes a difference. You need to separate your speakers. Living in a dorm-room or apartment, usually the speakers are put right next to the actual unit!!!!!----NO DON'T DO THAT!!! It can work some of the time, depending on where the unit is placed in the home. With this particular model---you can't separate the speakers. So take this unit and place it in a corner of a living room or a bedroom and you will get the sound. People don't turn the T-BASS function all the way up and expect to get clear sound with the volume on 38 or 40---you won't---(and that is with any system. The beautiful thing with this unit is that you can set the eq to your liking! That is a cool feature. The sound is exceptional! You just have to be patient and find the right sounf for you. That is what equalization is for! Enjoy!!!!!!!! STOP EXPECTING RACK SYSTEM SOUND from a 300 dollar unit that has satisfying sound!

Strengths:
the speaker system! the eq's the design the dimmer for the lights the remote cd player mechanism the life span on this unit!

Weaknesses:
Cd player is a little noisy...but who cares!

Review 2 of 9

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
I have owned this stereo for about 5 years, and in those years, i dont think i have come across another mini-system with as much customizability as this one. although now, im very much against minisystems, i would recomend this model to most boarderline enthusiasts. it has a superb sound quality, and the equalizer is terrific. my only complaint is the speakers that come with it. The mid and high range speakers are standard, nothing speacial about them, and they accurately reproduce sounds at high volume levels. the subwoofers on the other hand, are poorly designed, at highlevels, they are very distorted. though that is mainly caused by the enclosure, not the speakers themselves. the seperate amplifyers come in handy at times, but in the long run, i think it would have been better to combine the amplifyers into a more traditional setup.

Strengths:
equalizer, superb sound quality (on different speakers than ones provided)

Weaknesses:
speakers, cd eye is very sensitive to scratches, too many lights.

Review 3 of 9

Price Paid:  $550.00 from inside dealer

Summary:
The AIWA NSXD7 is by far the best mini system i have ever heard. I had bought it from a private dealer before i hit stores so I paid a bit higher than normal price but it was worth every penny. I think the sound is phenominal compared to other mini systems and alot of seperate unit systems. I love the tweeters they are the most clear crisp sounding tweeters i have heard. This stereo is definetely not for people in quiet neighborhoods or apartment buildings....but it is perfect for those in a larger house who can make all the noise they want. The distortion level is very low if existent at high end as long as the T-BASS is set to off. This is definetly a very good investmant for someone who is look for superior sound!

Strengths:
Sound quaility,Bass,High Rang noise.

Weaknesses:
product paint finish is easy to scratch.

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer,Panasonic,JVC,Sony, and RCA mini systems, as well as conventional stand alone units by the same manufacturers.

Review 4 of 9

Summary:
This isnt actually my stereo, it belongs to my roommate, but I figure that I listen to it enough that I can make this review.

Overall this isnt a bad, product, it has been reliable and produces ok music. My main complaint is the bass. With the T-bass off, the bass is quite thin and the midrange is weak. Turning up the T-bass improves the output of the bass, but then it overpowers the midrange becuase the mains only get 30w/channel. The bass also sounds like its the same note no matter what the music is. Thats pretty much what you get with a bandpass sub though, lots of bass but in a narrow range. Bandpass also "adds" bass to songs that werent ment to have it, i dont think that Pink Floyd was meant to have pounding bass like that of a techno or rap CD.

This unit is more of a marketing scheme than a stereo. Aiwa knows that many consumers go into a store and crank up the bass and see which stereo has the most bass for the cheapest price. And I'm sure that more than a few will be sold by the flashy display and the 300 watts sticker.

This product is for some people though. Lots of people do like hard, loud pounding bass from their stereo no matter what the music is, If this is you go buy this thing. Otherwise...keep shopping. Ill be moving out in a month so ill never have to listen to this stereo again. I dont think im gonna miss it.
