Nice to know you can still be amazed at new kit? Even if a model is old enough to be considered a classic these days? Well after all, hearing different stuff new or old is hard enough let alone in your own benchmark system, so on with it! Suffice to say I was under a little pressure domestically to procure a smaller pair of speakers I had been running.

Enter the MS25i. Now the model was no stranger to me? I had heard the buzz over the wires with regard to them, via forums and press, but when you are happy and at a higher price with your existing kit you don't really take much than a cursory glance.

To say I was impressed is an understatement! I mean if you see these in the flesh, immediate thoughts are tiny square and squat floor stander, with a construction that looks well ikea-esq with the foil printed chipboard material?

How could they originally be £300/pr typically when new? No they certainly looked far removed from an image of audio nirvana in my eyes? Well just turns out that despite these constraints the sound that oozes from them is exemplary?

Open not bright or glassy, Articulate and refined not muted. Bass'y yet controlled with a good extension and depth. Forward but not in your face. Airy but not hollow. This is what I am experiencing. Punching well above their diminutive size but not in a weighty but not forceful way. Destined to be classic if it isn't all ready. I'm back to my listening! Laters :)

Well the low end part. The lower end improved when bi amped. My gear are Arcam Alpha 7 for the highs and Arcam Alpha 8 for the lows. CD player still the old Maranz 25mkII SE, Cable talk3, Rega Planar 2,

I brought it in 1999 and it still thills me till today (2002).

Superb mid range and nice high ends. Smooth sound which is easy to listen to.

Not very exciting until you wind them up to about 5Watts. Some may want to pair them up with a Sub.

I got these speakers for my 11th birthday as replacements for my VERY old KLH's. After running them in for 24 hours they started to "free up", producing a much wider soundstage. I found that to get the bass to live up to the reputation of the mids I had to push the low level up a notch or two on the graphic equaliser. These speakers are very good for people with any size room. My music tastes are pop, rock, classical and blues. They work well with all these and bring out that all importaint detail. The specs are 40Hz-20KHz, 165mm bass/mid unit, 25mm gold anodised liquid cooled tweater, 75watts constant power handling, Bi-wireable and backwards firing bass ports. These speakers can now be got for £90, $126.

These speakers are unique. They are well balenced, look good and sound great when partnered with a powerful amp. They never really exagerate the sound, but they are never tiring or boring. They have a unique balence, which I have enjoyed for a long time!

Used in the right sized room they create a breathtaking soundstage, terrific clarity, depth and separation. Acoustic recordings sound very real. Handle high volumes with aplomb and never sound strained.

Lightweight on the bass, very controlled and well defined but not the gut wrenching lows you come to expect of this class of speaker. Even my Eltax Monitor 3's hooked to my Techincs Mini system have considerably more low end.

At the price Richer sounds offer them for, you really can't complain and if you're not a bass freak (like me), theres little other than Mission to touch them.

Agree with the rest of the guys here, great for living rooms or small places where you want to blank out the silence. Not terrific as serious listening goes. These are the pair you would making music while working on the computer, etc. Terrific casual listening speakers. Bass was slightly less than adequate for my music (Mostly alternative) but would be suited for acoustical recordings like jazz. Would fall apart under large classical recordings, sounding messy if serious listening was done.

Once again, great pair of casual speakers.

(On Basic System: Marantz PM66SE amp, CD67SE CD player) This was the least attractive-sounding of the three speaker-pairs I auditioned before buying, but I chose it anyway (over Tannoy's M3 and Mission's 733) knowing I could always get used to dullness. Now half a year later, I can say that these speakers still possess that timid, unexciting balance which provides a contrast to my older but much livelier Dali 102s on metal stands. At the extreme higher and lower frequencies they have more control than the Dali speakers, but where did the excitement go? With well-recorded acoustic passages the Dali 102s have that incomparable hair-raising magic. Thankfully, the MS25i does better with classical music, and so I swap speakers when I want to listen to the other half of my CD collection. My final verdict: solid, reliable, and rather flat.

very neutral sounding, the bass does not overwhelm as with speakers such as Tannoy m3's

Need to be driven hard, I use a Yamaha ax392 6o watt amp, bi-amped.

Natural sounding, need to be driven hard i.e. by my 60watt Yamaha amp. I like to hear music as it was recorded and these speakers certainly do that.

I got these to replace some Boston Acoustic A60-II's.My cd-player and receiver are decent, nothing to
brag about, yet these speakers sound terrific. They
sound so natural, without drawing attention to any
coloration such as a bass hump or bright highs.
I hear so much detail now, and they are so smooth I
can listen to them all day.
