I purchased the Arcam A90 to update my Rotel BX 960 (60 watts per channel - circa 1995) to better complement my Dynaudio 2 way bookshelf speakers and Cambridge 500SE CD player I have owned for about 2 years. I was looking for something with a fairly neutral yet powerful sound that could drive the Dynaudios. Being 6 ohms and with very weighty drivers they sound a bit thin with the Rotel. These speakers are legendary for a reason. I have had them all B&W' 603's, Celestion 442's, Proac Studio 150, Linn av 5140, Kef 104/2's and many many more some of which I have blown up within days. These bad boys are the affordable best. They are crystal clear with an almost hypnotic transparency, very loud and the deepest tightest bass you could want. Covering a wide range of music they really are all things to all men. Dub step and pumping techno bass heads get yourself a set of Cerwin Vega's and knock yourself out the rest of us can enjoy these quality speakers to our hearts content

Just one word, Amazed !
In sweden the brand mission is not a special famemous brand, we have the xtz thats one of the swedes fav brand (you knowe sweds love swedish stuff), with that said i will be onest, i paid 35 euro for this spekars aprox 50 dollar, thats super cheap, no one in sweden knows the brand so no one bought them on the second hand.
With thath price iam a lite bit in shame, because the sound better than my monitor audio rx 6 that i bought new for the orginal price aprox 1000 euro.
The sound i correct, its sound as it should sound, the bass on the rx 6 is more heavy and the swallow bad recording and maked them sound nice, thats good if you whant good sound, but if you whant the music sound as i whas recorded this speakers are really shining.

The bass is good and the go pretty low, the middle is great, and the tweeter is amazing.
And you can whip them up whith alot of power.

Bought them after careful listening for lotsa main's. it was a hard decision, i had to decide between the 775 missions & the great sounding b&w 603's.. eventually i picked the missions & i can't be happier with my decision. great sound, lots of BASS regardless what i've read here before, the bass is so sufficient i don't use a sub. You NEED to have a great amp for this speakers & must be bi-wired, i foolishly bought with them the YAMAHA RX-V800 which is a good receiver - but far from being enough to drive the missions. Now i'm using the new YAMAHA RX-V2400 (great sound processor) as a PRE-AMP & to drive my rears & center. as a stereo amp i've bought the great BELLES 150A HOT-ROD, unbelievable ! GREAT SPEAKERS - MOST ACCURATE SOUND WITH THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT.

These speakers are phenomonal!! I was deciding between the Martin Logan Aerius and the 775's. After an extensive 2 month audition between the 2 using various equipment (DC1,MC1 B&K, Denon. The missions won hands down in terms of pricing and overall sound.
I was looking for a speaker that was as quick, brilliant imaging and tightness as with the Martin logans but a pair that would not be as bright or give you listenining fatigue over a long period of listening. I was first introduced to logans (request) back in 94 paired with an Audio research tube amp (vt-100) and immediately fell in love with their aura and superb imaging. It was like nothing I ever heard. But after revisiting with them over the years I noticed that sometimes they can sound a bit bright and thin if your'e not driving them with the right equipment. After saving the money and ready to buy. I did some critical listening.
My objective was to find a great sounding speaker that will work well for both high-end audio listening and Home theater. It was narrowed down to the 775's and Request.
I knew with the Request I was gonna go with Klipsh surrounds, Logan center and the HGS 10 velodyne. For power I would have to get not only the Audio Research tube for 2 channel audio playback and a Sherbourn 1500 for HT. needles to say I was looking over 10 grand for a setup like this. So I went back to the mission which sounds excellent with the Sherbourn 1500 for both audio and HT.

Can sound overly bright with cheap electronics

These are great sounding speakers and definitely give much more expensive speakers a run for their money. I narrowed down my choices to either the Missions or the Martin-Logan ReQuest. I found the ReQuests to be the better speakers, but they were $5500, whereas I bought the Missions for $850.

I bought these speakers and was not too impressed with their sound initially, but I liked the way they looked. Over time, after the speakers got a chance to break-in, they sound absolutely great!

I am quite surprised that someone actually did not like these speakers.Especially found them lacking bass etc.
My only guess - those blaming 775's were trying to drive them with some cheap amp while claiming they had had the top of the line one to do so.
Shame.
These speakers are incredible.

I also had the 774's and while the imaging was amazingly incredible and the bass was as good as my Infinity RS-425 of twice the size, I yearned for superb 50Hz to 150Hz bass strength with my new AVR-5700. So, I bought the 775s too. I was worried that I would lose the incredible imaging of the 774's, but to my surprise I did not. These 200W 775 speakers with 92dB SPL are truly amazing and absolutely dispel the "myth" spread by audio magazines that claim the English speakers can't be strong on the low end like large US made speakers. The 775s are absolutely every ounce as hard working as any titan sized USA made speaker, including B&W's. I am an audio engineer and the best (reasonable cost) combination I found for BOTH cinema and music is the 775 fronts and 77ds rears. Yes, I have to admit that MUCH higher prices can tweak a bit more performance (referring to $$$ electrostatics). I am now very very happy with my system using the 775s. As my DH Labs T-14 bi-wires continue to break-in, the Mission 775's continue to improve and amaze on bass response. So far I have two of the 775, four of the 77ds two of the 774, two of the 771 and one 77c. They are all amazing speakers but the 92dB SPL you get with the bi-wired 775 (and 77ds bipolar rears) are the "dream" speakers I have been looking for!
